Das Thermistorrelais wird als Schutzrelais für Motoren gegen thermische Überlastung (unzulässige Erwärmung) eingesetzt. Diese Erwärmung kann durch mechanische Überlastung an der Welle oder beim Betrieb des Motors mit unzulässigen Spannungen auftreten. Als Sensor wird ein Kaltleiter (PTC) verwendet, der möglichst an dem Teil des Motors platziert wird, der sich bei Überlastung am stärksten erwärmt (z. B. in Motorwicklung integriert). Das Gerät ist auch bei Motoren einsetzbar, bei denen ein Thermoschalter integriert ist. Integrierter Fehlerspeicher mit frontseitiger Reset-Taste, oder Anschluss eines externen Reset-Tasters (Klemmen B1 - B2).
